Hi! I’m Liv,
And I'm biking across the country for affordable housing.
I'm a Journalism and Political Science major, Film minor at Simmons University in Boston, MA. I am a member of the dance company, the Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper, and a big fan of funky guitar riffs and hard exercise.

Most of all, I am beyond thrilled to be a member of the Bike and Build 2022 Central U.S. team!

Bike and Build first made its way onto my radar in Summer 2009, when I was 7 years old. My close family friend, whom I have long introduced as my sister, completed the now-retired P2S09 route, and visited my elementary school to give a presentation about her trip. I helped (sort of) by holding up her poster board with my little brother.

I remember thinking she must be a superhero, and that I would never be able to do something so grueling and difficult. Luckily, my legs and my patience have gotten a bit stronger since then, and I think I'm ready.

Bike and Build is about much more than being like my honorary sister, as much as that may mean to me. About every 5th day of my 77 day trip will be spent on the ground, building affordable housing for families in need across the country.

Over the past year, our pandemic-colored glasses have certainly overshadowed the demand for housing which is both affordable and structurally sound. Despite this, the facts remain the same–– the high cost of rental homes often forces low-income families into physically inadequate spaces, risking their safety and security.
I feel that as a person with the privilege to be able to assist in the building and renovation of affordable homes, it is my responsibility to do so.
