Today, the 7 AM wake-up felt really difficult. Probably because I was getting used to sleeping my face off with Covid!

I had a peanut butter and jelly breakfast, as one does, and expected to be spending most of the morning doing chores. What actually ended up happening was that a bunch of us went to the grocery store to stock up. Caroline and Eliza, and I went to CVS and then Walgreens to get some essentials, including a framed group picture for our host and some Covid tests that're free with insurance. Eliza and I both successfully got Covid tests with our insurance and we headed back to the campsite.

The rest of the morning was quite relaxing. I spent some time making a bracelet and hanging out with friends. I also finished my book! It had a wonderful ending and I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

After that, our host came with his two goats! One of them was a little baby white one–– the runt of the litter–– named Tiny. He also brought his little dog Layla. Most of the team spent the afternoon sitting in the grass and petting the various animals.

I started having an allergic reaction to the grass (which sometimes happens to me) so I spent some time sitting on the porch, and then lunch arrived. We got a donation from a restaurant called Sisters and we had wraps and chips. They were pretty good!

After that, I decided I was going to walk down to the lake to get some Wi-Fi. I think it’s about a mile walk, and I got maybe a half a mile or a little more before some teammates went by in the truck. They picked me up and I found out they were going to the beach at the lake and decided to go with them instead!

We spent the afternoon swimming, playing spike ball, swimming again, and just spending time together. It was my favorite afternoon so far.

We showered when we got back and I threw a little laundry in because I’d gone into the lake in my clothes. I also helped to make dinner or I cut the largest watermelon I have ever seen in my entire life (I swear it took 30 minutes to cut). I had some leftover spaghetti for dinner with some steamed broccoli, the watermelon, and some cucumber and it was delicious.

We started cleaning up the host site after dinner because we’re leaving at 6 AM tomorrow, wake up is at five. I was part of a group that went to the showers and cleaned them and it took FOOORRRever.

I’m winding down now and hoping to get to bed early because I haven’t woken up at five in more than a week. I’m also looking forward to posting these blogs finally when I have Wi-Fi tomorrow! Or maybe the day after, I’m not really sure.

We have a surprise build day tomorrow, so we will be going to work with a homeless shelter once we arrive in Kentucky. I didn’t know we were doing this so it’s pretty exciting to have something on our plates for tomorrow.

After that we’re back to riding. I’m feeling really anxious about getting back on the bike and I don’t know completely if it’s because of Covid or because I’ve been off the bike for a couple days or because my last couple rides were really hard but it’s definitely a source of anxiety for me.

Well, for tonight I'll just look at the lightning bugs!
