That 5 am wakeup kicked my butt this morning. Even though I'd planned to get up 5 to 10 minutes early to pack I simply didn't do that. I did get out to my bike eventually, and geared up for what I knew would be a long haul.
About ten miles into our ride we did our wheel dip, a Bike and Build tradition where we dunk the back tire of our bikes in the ocean to commemorate the beginning of our trip! We took tons of pictures that I'll hopefully post soon

I rode 68 miles today, and shifted back and forth between loving it and really feeling every mile. Hopefully the uncomfortable parts will subside and I will just get to focus on all the amazing sights I got to see!
My favorite sights included:
- The ocean!
- Campus of William and Mary
- Colonial Williamsburg
- Fields of wheat
- Fields of corn
- Birthplace and plantation of the tenth US president (10 miles away from each other)
- Sherwood Forest
- a bamboo forest
- A snake, a turtle, four horses, a hawk, a vulture, two sheep, eleven dogs, seven spiders, and an ant
- lunch
We're building tomorrow, which means a bit less time commitment. I'm hoping to find a post office tomorrow to send home a bunch of stuff I packed that I decided wouldn't fit, and get a really nice coffee to keep me going.
After that, back to riding!
I'm exhausted, so I'm headed to bed pretty early today, and I'll be up to build at 6:30!
Hi sweetheart, It’s so nice to hear your voice every day! I would love to have been a fly on the wall when you all dipped your back wheels in the ocean. 🚴 What a wonderful tradition! It will be great to see the photos. Sleep well tonight! ❤️
I love your list of pretty sights and the animal count! Yesterday was a tough biking day for sure, and you finished with Grace and a good attitude! So proud of you, Livvy.
Whew! I’m exhausted just reading this!
The first two weeks are the worst as far as feeling sore. You can do hard things!
