Day 47: Solo Exploring

Today, we worked with the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Teton Valley, which was one of the wealthier and more organized Habitats we've worked with.

Unfortunately for me, I woke up 15 minutes before we had to leave. so I didn't really have time to eat breakfast and I was very hungry the whole time.

Fortunately for me, we only built for three hours, and we got to work with a female construction worker for the first time! She had done Americore and was very knowledgable and funny. I spent most of my day framing out the inside of townhouses within a bigger building.

The Habitat chapter provided us with lunch, and put on a presentation about their chapter before our volunteer day was over.

After our build day, a good proportion of the team decided to go back to Grand Teton National Park. Since we'd spent so many hours biking through it yesterday, and because I plan to come back, I decided to do my own thing.

I spent my afternoon getting my nails done, walking around downtown, window and souvenir shopping, and generally recharging for the last three or so weeks of the trip.

My afternoon was perfect, and it helped me so much to mentally reset.

Once I returned from my adventuring, the small group of us who had stayed behind headed to the showers. Thank goodness we did, because the rest of the team would take so long at the park they didn't get to shower.

I made dinner for everyone by myself–– spaghetti, plant-based meat sauce, meatballs, broccoli, watermelon, and salad. It wasn't awesome because most things were a little overcooked, but it did the job well.

Ali, Bry, Juan, and I walked around the town again after we ate, and I got a smores chocolate bar for dessert. We didn't get back until almost 9:30, so my blog will be the last thing I do before bed!
