Some days on Bike and Build, I scope out the route beforehand and have a gut feeling that a ride is going to be either really bad, or kind of dangerous. In the two times that has happened, I've decided not to ride. Today was one of those days.
As it turns out, my intuition on this route was right, because only 16 miles into the route, the trail turned into four-inch deep sand that was impossible to bike over without falling, and the team had to walk their bikes six miles to the truck.
I finally caught up on sleep and was ready for the day by the time my (very unhappy) teammates rolled into the host.
I walked the 20 minutes into town by myself this afternoon and scoped out the best gift shops and coffee shops. I found a town of really great gifts, but no good coffee. Maybe tomorrow!
After I'd scoped them out, my friends came and met me to see my favorite gift shop, Dancing Moose. They had awesome vintage gift cards and Eliza and I both got Yellowstone sweaters.

We tried to get DMs for dinner to no avail, so we had leftovers from last night. I had another baked potato with chili and the fixings.
After dinner, a few of us cleaned out the van for our plans tomorrow–– doing the highlight real of Yellowstone on our only day off of the trip! We're planning on seeing Old Faithful, the Grand Prismatic Spring, the Upper Falls, and more! I could not be more excited.
I can't wait to fill everyone in on the adventure tomorrow!!
Livvy, I’m so glad that you followed your intuition! It sounds like you are ready for an awesome day of exploring Yellowstone. Buckie and I were there oh so many years ago, with your mom who is only one year old. I remember how awed she was when she saw a geyser pop up. Enjoy your day, and take a picture or two of the incredibleness of it all. ❤️
